PHILOSOPHY
At Prairie Kitchens we believe that food is a pleasure to share. We share our love of food and cooking with students in a relaxed and creative atmosphere. We combine updated classical techniques and professional skills to execute innovative recipes which teach the basics of good cooking. We emphasize fresh, seasonal ingredients and quality equipment. Our cooking classes focus on the social aspects of cooking and provide the opportunity for participation and interaction. They offer the kind of interaction that builds relationships -- good business for you, your clients, and your group!

PROGRAMS
Prairie Kitchens Cooking School classes average 12 students in a hands-on atmosphere. Prairie Kitchens also presents cooking classes and demonstrations for groups of five to one hundred. You may choose from our wide-ranging list of topics or we can custom-design a class just for your group. Popular topics include Easy Pastas, Bread and Soups, Southwestern Menus, Fish and Seafood, Fresh Fruit Tarts, Lo-Carb Menus, Vegetarian and more.  Participants receive the recipes and instruction necessary to prepare unique and delicious menus. They enjoy sampling all the gourmet treats that have been prepared.

LOCATIONS
Regularly scheduled classes at locations throughout Chicago and suburbs.  We will prepare our presentation for any location you choose.

COST
Regularly scheduled classes cost $50-55 for a three hour session.  Private classes depend on the type of program you choose and cover recipes, instruction, one presenter and where applicable, ingredients and one assistant. Additional charges may cover rental items, beverages, space rental, additional personnel and any extra costs specific to your group.


BIOGRAPHY
Carolynn Friedman, chef, caterer and cooking instructor has dedicated much of her life to the culinary arts.  Training in both the U.S. and France, she holds a unique interest in learning an array of cultures and their ways of cooking and has an ability to take her learnings and transform them into her own creations.  With this ability, she has developed worldly recipes which she passes on to her students through Prairie Kitchens Cooking School. Carolynn is author to many Prairie Kitchen's classes including Light and Easy Mediterranean Cuisine, Italian Flavors for Entertaining, and Latin Flavors for Entertaining. Not only does Carolynn actively participate in the hands-on aspects of Prairie Kitchens, she is the owner and personally manages the catering services and cooking school.  Carolynn teaches a majority of Prairie Kitchen's classes and is able to reflect her culinary talent to her students in an enthusiastic special manner. Her work is far from unnoticed as she has appeared on CLTV's "Good Eating", "TV Dinner" and "Lifestyles with Pat Sheffer" on cable television and has been featured in various publications including the Chicago Tribune and Sun Times.

In addition to being one of the Midwest's most popular cooking instructors, Friedman is the mother of two daughters and maintains an active involvement in her children's lives. Friedman inspires by example, combining career and family and her love of food. She believes that sharing good food with family and friends is one of life's honest pleasures and one of the cornerstones of family life. Friedman shares with students her practical tips for everyday family meals and elegant entertaining. She is also a world traveler, whose samplings of the world's best restaurants and markets find their way into her recipes and classes. Her creative inspiration and practical orientation focus Prairie Kitchen's classes on delicious menus with practical techniques that students can master at home. Friedman's kitchen is a relaxed, friendly place for experimentation and learning that students have grown to love. Her food is infused with love and care, two flavors that everyone appreciates.
